Aside from the bed, the sofa has got to be one of the most frequently used furniture in the home. In other words, you’ll need one that can last longer than a millenial’s attention span, and is both comfortable and compatible with the overall décor of the living room.
What we are trying to advocate is to pick a sofa based on fabric durability. Mind you, we are not advising you to select a sofa based on fabric colour or pattern. We’re talking about the actual material the sofa is made of.
As sofas tend to be heavily utilized, it is prudent to pick one made out of fabric which:
- Is able to withstand wear and tear
- Does not snag or easily come undone at the seams
- Will not easily wrinkle or leave stains
- Is lint free and does not attract dust (especially so if you or other family members have allergies)
The most common ones in the market are made of cotton or leather. That said, if you’re more inclined to purchase the former because its affordability, it is important to take note of the thread count and yarn density. In addition, it is more eco-friendly and there is less animal cruelty. At centrepiece, you will be able to choose what you need at our workshop in Ang Mo Kio avenue 5.
And if you think you prefer a sofa made out of other fabrics, there are others made out of synthetic (eg. nylon, polyester blends, rayon) or natural fabrics (eg. silk, linen, wool). Do bear in mind that each of these has their own pros and cons, so it is necessary to do more research before making a purchase.

Do you see the visual energy that the Art and the sofa?
The sofa gives me a sense of comfort and security.
The art gives off an air of expression.
To me, it seems like an prefect combination. What do you think?

Why do you need it?
Because you have active and beautiful children!
And adorable pets!
So your sofas for everyday use need durable fabric. Cotton and linen are winners (but watch out for loose weaves — they can snag). Also terrific: synthetic microfiber, which can mimic most fabrics and is stain resistant. Cotton and linen can be treated for stain resistance, but even then they aren’t as easy to clean, or as durable.
Blends of natural and synthetic fibers tend to peel within a year.
Wool and leather are handsome and strong but expensive.
Silk is sleek but fragile.
Fabrics with patterns woven in tend to wear better than those with printed patterns.
Tip: Ask Centrepiece furnishing for a piece of fabric larger than the usual swatch. Place it where the sofa will go. View it in natural and artificial light — and see how much you still like it after a few days.
Often we choose color before making any other choices regarding a sofa fabric. Maybe it is because it makes the strongest impact and is the first thing we see when making a selection.
- Color is the single most important reason people choose a fabric, so make sure your color choice is one you can live with happily for a long time. For instance, it may be best to avoid a very bold color for a smaller room, especially if your sofa is also large.
- Avoid delicately colored fabrics around children and pets.
- To strike the right mood, consider the color temperature. Since warm and cool colors affect the mood of the room, make sure you’re choosing the right fabric for the right mood.
- Avoid trendy colors, unless you happen to really like them. Color trends come and go so be careful. For instance, what if you don’t consider eggplant an attractive color in the first place? Will you be able to live with it even when its popularity wanes?

You must have heard that we cant be happy all the time, so how much do you think we should try to be happy when we are not? How did you decide when we should stop trying to be happy?
When was the last time you felt like life is a piece of dump?
That you rather sleep and never wake up? Did you start telling yourself that we do not deserve to be happy as it is not normal to be happy all the time?
But then, you felt trapped. Not unhappy.
Resting is no longer comfortable.
What is itself is no longer natural. You may feel strangely strange being alive and yet feeling so odd.
But don’t stop, have courage and fight for your happiness no matter what others say. Your inner voice must learn to heal and console ourselves like a child.
Until you feel comfortable and happy to be just yourself. Don’t stop trying to be happy.
Don’t give up on bringing happiness to yourself and to others who may feel like yourself now. So reach out to your friends and family and tell them that they deserve happiness and don’t stop trying to be happy.
You deserve to be happy and we hope we will one day be part of your journey of happiness.

A striped couch can add a touch of whimsy, a cottage-style vibe, or a conservative air of business to a room, depending on the color and types of stripes on the fabric. If the couch is covered in bold colored stripes, keeping stripes to a minimum on the rest of the decor will keep the look from becoming overwhelming.
Your selection of throw pillows, wall decor and floor coverings, as well as the fabric or finish on other chairs, will determine whether the striped couch creates casual flair, an eclectic vibe, or is simply used as a splash of pattern in an otherwise basic room décor.
Mix and Match, Yet Classy
A striped couch needn’t match everything or even anything else in the room — it can simply stand out on its own as a statement piece without overpowering the rest of the furniture in the room. This look combines the stripes of a couch in conservative or neutral colors, a floral or paisley print on a sofa, loveseat or arm chair, with additional pieces in neutral, solid tones.
The variety of pieces in this type of styling suggest grown up eclecticism — things don’t match, yet each on its own is fairly conservative and the grouping as a whole, including wall and floor decor, seems to fit together.
For a more conservative look, the couch striping is in neutral or conservative colors, such as shades of beige or navy. Fabric covered chairs match one of the colors of the couch stripes, and accent rugs and wall coverings are also in the same color family. Throw pillows feature either the striped fabric or one of the colors of the couch fabric. The vibe is conservative and yet comfortable.
Stripes can run the gamut from conservative to fun. A couch of bright stripes adds to the air of whimsy in an arrangement of funky furniture shapes, vibrant chairs and tables, colorful wall art and playful accent pieces. Pieces need not match in an eclectic room — the more offbeat and unusual, the better, and it is the non-matching quality that ties the room together.
This type of room is full of creative, artistic energy and is well suited for a creative personality.
Some gently striped couches fit nicely into a cottage or shabby chic ambiance. A comfy couch with white or light blue pastel striping becomes a centerpiece in a comfortable cottage-style room, especially one with plank walls. Pastels, whites and whitewashing round out the decor with a variety of antiques and vintage-style accessories that feature the mellow, peaceful colors of the stripes.
For a waterfront cottage, wall decor and accents featuring water and boating themes completes the look.
Occasionally, we tend to lose sleep over things that has happened in our life. Perhaps, something that just didn’t quite go the way we want. Is it worth losing our sleep over this? Nevertheless, I can’t emphasise enough the importance of sleep to you and me. So, a good bed is important to us to achieve that, and a good bed frame to support us is equally important.
Having a good solid bed frame is essential to help us feel supported and grounded.
And of course, you are unique. So we can put in ideas to create bed frame that suits our taste and décor as well. Be creative, choose the design and colour as you wish.
Or be as designer as you LOVE! Basically, you decide what you like and we will help you achieve the custom made bed frame that you want to support you in a good night of sleep!
